RANDOLPH, NJ - The Lady Rams basketball team has wasted no time kicking its game into top gear this season. After a thrilling overtime victory in the season opener, they have run off three straight wins to move their record to 4-0.
In the second game of the season, Kiera Cesareo went on a 3-point tear, hitting six threes on her way to 23 points, leading the Rams to a 44-31 win over Scotch Plains-Fanwood. Randolph ran out to a 25-15 first half lead and never looked back. Cynthia Meringer added 13 points, seven rebounds and six assists, while Kelly McGinnis contributed six assists and four steals.
In the Whippany Park Holiday Tournament, the Lady Rams won their first game over Hanover Park, 41-28. Cesareo again led the Rams in scoring, putting up 17 points, while adding five rebounds and three assists. Randolph clamped down on defense, holding Hanover to single digit points in three of their four quarters, allowing only three points in the fourth. Cynthia Meringer contributed 13 points to the victory, and Jennie LaMancuso added seven points and led the team in rebounding with eight boards.
In their second round game, Randolph disposed of Whippany Park in a closely fought 38-30 win. The game was tied 19 apiece at the half before Randolph pulled away in the second. Cesareo paced the team with 10 points, followed by Alana Miniovich with 7 points and 8 rebounds.
