RANDOLPH, NJ- The Randolph High School Literary Magazine “Writings on the Wall” was recently recognized by the American Scholastic Press Association with a first place award.

Last year, the magazine received a second place ranking, said Advisor and RHS English teacher Kelly Kays who noted that she was very pleased with the success of the 2016 issue. “Ultimately, this is a snapshot of the talent we have in the building,” said Mrs. Kays, who noted that Randolph High School is full of many talented writers. “We have a plethora of artistic ability in creative writing and our literary magazine represents a small scale of our talent.”

Although some of the 2016 editorial staff graduated last spring, many students who worked on that issue are on the current editorial board, Mrs. Kays said.

“We are really pleased to receive this award,” said current co-editor Alexa Nodine. “We worked really hard on this issue and it is dream come true.”

The 2016 issue received many wonderful submissions, noted co-editor Melissa Stoia. “We read many high-quality submissions and we were disappointed that we did not publish all of them,” Melissa said. “We felt we had a stellar magazine last spring.”

The following students who worked on the 2016 issue graduated last June: editor Cindy Sharra and Meg Brennan, Rose Bolinder, and Alexandra Katsoudas.
