RANDOLPH, NJ— Members of the Randolph High School Marching Rams including members of the Color Guard and the Randolph High School cheerleaders performed live on the NBC Saturday Today show as part of a special homecoming show on Saturday, Oct. 8.
The Saturday Today Show was featured live on NBC from 7- 9 a.m. and feature Today show hosts Craig Melvin, Sheinelle Jones, Dylan Dreyer and Stephanie Ruhle and two performances by the RHS Marching Rams as part of a special half-hour homecoming half hour from 8:30-9 a.m. The show will also feature special homecoming cooking with chef Sunny Anderson. A segment of students in the RHS marching band performed two songs on the live show outside at 30 Rock Plaza, one at around 8:30 a.m. and the other at around 9 a.m.
“We are thrilled that our marching band, color guard and cheerleaders will be able to represent Randolph on the NBC Saturday Today show,” said Randolph Supervisor of Visual and Performing Arts Frank Perrone. “Each group works extremely hard during this season putting in many hours of practice along with many performances. This performance on the Saturday Today show will be a memory that will last forever. We are proud of each group and excited to see them perform on TV!”
Randolph High School Band Director Dawn Russo said that she is thrilled that the marching band, color guard and cheerleaders have this opportunity to perform on NBC’s today show. “What a wonderful opportunity for our talented students,” Russo said. “I know that they will represent Randolph High School with pride as they appear on national television.”
The band will play “Hey” and “Hey Baby” as four RHS cheerleaders will dance and four members of the band’s color guard will perform on each side of the stage as the band performs.
RHS alum Brittany Mania contacted Russo in September and invited band members to perform on the show as part of the homecoming segment. “I know that you have a robust music program and would love to extend this invitation to the Marching Rams,” Mania wrote in an email to Russo.
