RANDOLPh, NJ-The RMS Science Olympiad 2016-2017 team did very well at the NJ State level competition on March 7 at Middlesex County Community College.
The team competed in 25 events focusing on many branches of Science and Engineering. Overall, the team placed 17th in the state with these notable accomplishments:
2nd place in the state for Anatomy and Physiology: Rachel Coombs and Priscilla Peters
2nd place in the state for Write It Do It: Akshay Rau and Sarah Agostin
6th place in the state for Scrambler: Karie Shen and Sarah Agostin
8th place in the state for Reach for the Stars: Karie Shen and Connor McDermid
8th place in the state for Mission Possible: Rachel Coombs and Priscilla Peters
10th place in the state for Meteorology: Bala Saravanan
Students on the team earned a spot at the state competition after they placed well in the Regional Competition held back in January at NJIT.
"Our team members worked very hard during after school meetings and at home to prepare for their events," said co-advisors Jessica Dingman and Cara Gilligan. "Some other areas the students competed in were builds such as towers and rocketry as well as labwork such as disease detectives, bioprocess lab, and crime busters."
