RANDOLPH, NJ- Last weekend, my daughter and her friends held a mini fund-raiser in our neighborhood in Randolph to help raise money for St. Jude Children’s Hospital.  They did this entirely on their own without any direction from their teachers or parents.

The money was raised by Anna Lord (Age 10), Claire Hayhoe (Age 9), Abby Lindsey (Age 9), and Emily Lindsey (Age 7) by selling lemonade, baked goods and crafts in their neighborhood.  They also raised money by asking neighbors and passers-by to  sponsor them to run around the block 3 times (almost the equivalent of a 5k)  They raised $150 in one day.

I am fortunate to work for a company that offers to match donations, so we quickly turned the $150 into a $300 donation to St. Jude Children's Hospital thanks to this group of neighborhood friends that simply wanted to come together to do something for kids less fortunate than they are.
