RANDOLPH, NJ- David Browne, Superintendent of the Randolph Township School district, was placed on administrative leave on Tuesday night at the Board of Education meeting.
Browne's employment status changed when the school board approved the change in his leave status from “family medical leave” to “ paid administrative leave” effective Sept. 18 until further notice," according to a personnel motion.
Marc Zitomer, attorney for the Randolph Township Board of Education, did not offer a reason for the leave "because of the confidential nature of the matter.” He also could not comment why the change was made.
Other District officials, citing personnel reasons, also could not provide any further details of the leave.
Jennifer Fano, Assistant Superintendent of Schools, remains acting Superintendent of Randolph Schools. Fano expressed she does not need any assistance at this time and is handling the transition and responsibility well, in an interview last week.
Browne has been superintendent of schools in Randolph since July 2011.
Browne was also involved in a fire on Tuesday at his Wykoff home. No further updates are known on his injuries at this time or on the cause of the fire.
