RANDOLPH, NJ- The Randolph Middle School Science Olympiad team requires students in sixth, seventh and eighth grades to take an entrance exam with the top 18 students admitted. The 18 students then traveled to Union County College on Jan. 6 to compete in the regional competition.
The team did well this year, placing first out of 22 schools in the Disease Detectives event and 12th overall in the competition. The first place team consisted of eighth grader Brian Li and sixth grader Arthur Berthier.
The students also competed in other events including: Write It, Do it; Air Trajectory, Bridge Building, Elastic Launched Glider, Anatomy & Physiology, Bio Process Lab, Can't Judge a Powder, Fossils, Road Scholar, and Picture This.
Ms. Jessican Dingman and Mrs. Cara Gilligan are the team co-advisors and have enjoyed watching the eighteen students grow in their knowledge of Science content and practices. The Science Olympiad team will be featured at the RMS STEAM night happening on March 22 from 5:30-8:00.
