RANDOLPH, NJ- Close to 150 people gathered at the Mount Freedom Firehouse on Millbrook Ave to join in the Randolph Rotary Club’s first annual Taste of Randolph.

“The Inspiration was really a club thought / idea,” said event organizer Kathy Kremins. “We've been talking about it for some time and finally I said let's go for it.  The first one is always the hardest.”

In total, ten restaurants agreed to participate, and sent employees over for the night with samples of a few signature dishes.

For Noches De Colombia, a brand new Colombian restaurant and bakery on Rt. 10 the evening provided an opportunity to introduce themselves to the community. Morris Tap and Grill, The Randolph Diner, Mamma Caterina, Meadow Wood Manor, Pizza Pub, Verona Resturant, Antimo’s Pizza, Hunan Wok, and J&M Caterers rounded out the food vendors.

Craft beer and wine was provided by High Grade Beverage on Canfield Ave in Randolph, and the Rotary club provided water and soda.

“The biggest surprise for us was the night of the week,” said Kremins.  “Other towns have them on Monday night which is generally a slow night, and therefore a good night for this.  We found out that perhaps another night might be better as some of our restaurants are closed on Mondays and were not able to participate.”

A 50-50 was held, and door prizes were raffled off so that many guests left not only with a full stomach, but also with a gift in hand.

“The event was certainly a success and many people commented that it was a lovely event,” said Kremins Our guests enjoyed having a seat to sit and enjoy the food. We are looking forward to expanding it for next year.”
