RANDOLPH, NJ- After completing another wildly successful season as a team, Randolph High School Track and Field continued to flex their muscles by sending six athletes on to the final individual meet of the season, the Meet of Champions. The MOC, held at Northern Burlington County Regional High School in Columbus NJ, is where the best of the best from all over NJ gather to compete for the final time, after having qualified to attend.
Meghan O’Malley competed and placed in three events, finishing 2nd in long jump (18’5”), 5th in high jump (5’6”), and 6th in triple jump with a personal best of 38’5.5”. O’Malley also qualified for the 100m hurdles but did not run it, deciding instead to focus on her jumping events.
Abby Loveys competed and placed in one event finishing 2nd in the 1600m (4:49); Loveys also qualified in the 3200m race but did not run it in order to focus on the 1600m run.
Meredith Finley had a great showing as well, finishing 14th in the 800m run.
Competing for the boys at the MOC, were Eric Byrne (pole vault), Jacob Hitland (high jump), and Ahsan Huland-El (shot put). All three had strong seasons for the Rams as evidenced by their qualifying for MOC.
O’Malley, Loveys, and Finley will be running at the New Balance National meet in NC this coming weekend. O’Malley will be running the shuttle hurdle race on Saturday along with Karen Hull, Janyce Wowk, and Cassandra Saybe. Then on Sunday, O’Malley will run the Distance Medley Relay, ( 400m leg ) along with Finley (1200m leg), Chloe Whiting (800m leg), Loveys (anchor with 1600m leg).
