RANDOLPH, NJ - Summer construction projects at all six schools are in full swing as the district continues preparing for the 2014-2015 school year and the first day of school on Thursday, Sept. 4.
What follows is a breakdown of some of the larger projects in order to keep our greater school community aware of the summer improvements.
Back on June 30, workers began prepping the Randolph High School main lobby for a major summer renovation. With expected completion by the start of the school year, the project completely modernizes the look of the main lobby and enhances school security.
The rendering in the attached picture gives a sneak peek at the final project.
As announced the first week of July, visitors should expect to access the building via the old administrative entrance after buzzing and signing in. In addition to the main lobby, the floors of both the main and auxiliary gyms are being redone, complete with an updated “R” logo.
The roof at RHS is also being repaired this summer and both main parking lot driveways at RHS and RMS will be repaved. That work on the driveways was scheduled to begin Monday, July 21 and is expected to be finished by August 15. The middle school stage is being refinished, along with a newly-carpeted podium area and new stage rigging – all long overdue. The organ room to the right of the stage is being removed, as well.
In addition to the RHS main lobby project, one of the larger projects underway is at Fernbrook Elementary School, where the entire roof is being redone. That work began on July 9.
These projects are just some of the work being done this summer in order to remain current, secure and aesthetically pleasing for those working, learning or visiting in our six schools. Best of luck to you all as you continue with a safe and healthy summer. We’re very excited to start school on Sept. 4.
