RANDOLPH, NJ- Master candy chef, John Tompkins ( JT),  has not only brought delicious handmade confections to Randolph, but while doing so he is raising generous amount of money for various charities. His shop, JT's Confections, is in Heritage Square located at 1206 Sussex Turnpike in Randolph. (In the vestibule between A&B Bagel and Majestic Flowers)

Chocolates and caramels are handmade on site, and Tompkins also makes English butter toffee, chocolate covered Oreos and pretzels, as well as assorted barks.

JT's Confection’s owner, John Tompkins, is contributing to Randolph and the greater community at large.  Having been fortunate in his prior career, John wanted to do something to pay it forward. With that in mind, he donates all of his JT's Confections profits to charity. This year John is focusing on three charities: the Summit Speech School in New Providence NJ, St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital and DAV (Disabled American Veterans). In the last 3 years John has donated $45,000 to charity. His ultimate goal is to donate $100,000 to charity on an annual basis.

In addition to the charities Tompkins supports, he provides employment-training opportunities for students in the Transition Program at Randolph High School. The Transition Program is a community based instructional program for students with special needs. Through the Transition Program, the students benefit from job sampling while learning soft skills for future employment. This year, the students are helping JT's unpack cases of candy boxes, insert cards into them and then label the boxes.

“I really didn't envision JT's being much more than a hobby, but it quickly took on a life of it's own," said Tompkins.  "About three years ago, as sales started to increase, my wife suggested we do something good with the company. After a brief discussion we decided to support charities through our profits. For the last three years, this is what has motivated us to grow the business and I can honestly say, JT's Confections has turned into the best job I've ever had."

Tompkins also takes particular pride in his caramel, often hearing from customers "It's the best caramel I ever tasted."

JT's is open Thursday thru Sunday from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM, but as John likes to say, “If the lights are on, come on in.”

For more information visit www.jtsconfections.com or call John at 909-377-9199. Make sure you ask him about his corporate charity program.
