RANDOLPH, NJ- Coming off a tremendously successful season, Randolph’s track and field team faced a whole new level of competition at the State Sectionals this past Friday and Saturday.  As expected, they were up to the task and continued to place at or near the top of the standings in multiple events.

The North Jersey, Section 1 Group 4 sectionals brought teams from all over North Jersey, some from as far away as Bergen and Essex Counties.  Randolph hosted the two day event, and gave the home town fans something to cheer about in virtually every event.

Highlights of the boys who placed in the top 5 on the day are as follows:

400 Meter Hurdles, Stephen Nalbach took 2nd place, Dan Leanza took 5th

400 Meter Dash, Greg Stickle took 2nd, Stephen Nalbach took 5th

Shot Put, David Vargas took 2nd

Long Jump, Anthony Zarro took 1st, Greg Stickle took 5th

4 x 100 Meter Relay, Randolph took 2nd

3200 Meter Run, Seamus Higgins took 5th

4 x 400 Meter Relay, Randolph took 2nd

Boys Triple Jump, Anthony Zarro took 2nd

Boys high Jump, Anthony Zarro took 4th

On the Girls side, the following placed in the top 5:

400 Meter Hurdles, Marianna Loeken took 2nd

1600 Meter Run, Nora May McSorely took 1st, Liz Wellman took 2nd, and Carole Harsch took 3rd

4 x 800 Meter Relay, Randolph took 3rd

Discus, Nicole Ough took 5th

Triple Jump, Aliyah Huland El took 1st

High Jump, Aliyah Huland El took 3rd

100 Meter Hurdles, Elly Scherer

800 Meter Run, Nora May Mcsorley took 1st

3200 Meter Run, Carole Harsch took 1st, Margaret Thompson took 4th

4 x 400 Meter Relay, Randolph took 1st

Long Jump, Aimee Mehta took 4th
