RANDOLPH, NJ- Former RHS graduate, Peter Grunert, was part of a student team from the Yale School of Management to win the Yale-Geithner Challenge: Visualizing Financial Crises in the Modern World on April 30. The team won for an animated video explaining the role that the wholesale funding market played in the financial crisis.
For the competition, teams of students from Yale SOM (School of Management) and other Global Network for Advanced Management schools created videos exploring the causes and management of worldwide financial crises.
Former Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner, who chaired the competition’s panel of judges, gave opening and closing remarks at the awards ceremony in Yale SOM’s Zhang Auditorium.
The winning team included Yale SOM students Jeff Kim ’15, Peter Grunert ’15, Hugo Santillan ’15, and Anurati Tandon ’15. Their video was titled “Wholesale Funding—A Weak Link in the Financial System.”
“Having spent the first four years of my career on Wall Street, I came to Yale interested in further studying the causes and impacts of the financial crisis. I never imagined that I would have the opportunity to study such a topic with Former Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, one of the key architects of America's policy response to the crisis. Without question, it was a true highlight of my educational experience at Yale,” Grunert said.
