In the month of October, the Randolph Twp. Police Dept. received another fifteen (15) reports from residents where fraudulent Unemployment claims were filed in their names. Residents became alerted to the scams by notification from their employers and/or letters received from the NJ Department of Labor advising them that their claims were received.  Anyone who becomes a victim to this scam is advised to file report with the Police, and to contact the appropriate agencies to place an alert their personal accounts.  Reports are being forwarded to the NJ State Police.

During the month October, thefts and attempted thefts from unlocked vehicles still continued to occur.  Residents are urged to remember to secure their valuables and lock their vehicles.

On October 2, 2020 - Marina N. Scarth, age 35 of Randolph, NJ was arrested by Ptl. Jeremiah Crowley for Hindering Prosecution of Another during a motor vehicle crash investigation.  Ms. Scarth was served with a Special Complaint-Summons, advised of her mandatory first virtual court appearance date in Randolph Twp. Municipal Court, then released.

On October 2, 2020 – Following a motor vehicle stop,  Jonathan A. Brea, age 40 of Irvington, NJ was arrested by Ptl. Cory Frappier for Possession of Marijuana Under 50 grams and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Defendant was also issued several motor vehicle summonses for his violations, advised of his mandatory first virtual court appearance date in Randolph Twp. Municipal Court, then released.

On October 3, 2020 - Following a motor vehicle stop, Scott G. Troast, age 29 of Randolph, NJ was arrested by Ptl. Dylan Van Riper on an outstanding ATS warrant out of Wayne Municipal Court.  Mr. Troast was processed, issued summonses for his motor vehicle violations, then released.

On October 8, 2020 – Ptl. Bryan Blauvelt arrested Christopher P. Rubin, age 48 of Randolph, NJ on an active ACS warrant out of Cherry Hill, NJ. Mr. Rubin was processed and released.

On October 11, 2020 – A resident reported receiving a fraudulent phone call from someone claiming to be from “Amazon” and was asked if they had purchased an ‘iPhone’ from them.  When the resident responded that they had not made the purchase, the caller asked them to download two (2) apps onto their cell phone.   Upon doing so it appeared the caller “took control” of the phone.  The resident was advised to notify their financial institutions as well as their cell provider.  Residents are reminded to guard their personal information and be wary of callers asking you to download apps.

On October 18, 2020 - Following a motor vehicle crash, Luis J. Diaz, age 57 of Chester, NJ was arrested by Ptl. Kevin Gocklin for Driving While Intoxicated.  Mr. Diaz was issued several summonses for various motor vehicle violations, advised of his mandatory first virtual court appearance date in Randolph Twp. Municipal Court, then released.

On October 18, 2020 – Following a motor vehicle stop, Walter A. Guzman- Martinez, age 31 of Dover, NJ was arrested by Sgt. Frank Mygas for Driving While Intoxicated.  Mr. Guzman- Martinez was issued motor vehicle summonses for his violations, advised of his mandatory first virtual court appearance date in Randolph Twp. Municipal Court, then released.

On October 20, 2020 – Ptl. Ian Green arrested Marlon E. Verde, age 26 of Dover, NJ on an outstanding ATS Warrant issued by Morristown Municipal Court.  Mr. Verde was processed, advised of a mandatory virtual court appearance date in Morristown Municipal Court, then released.

On October 21, 2020 – Following a motor vehicle stop,  Noelle L. Hardy, age 28 of East Orange, NJ was arrested by Ptl. Nick Francica on the strength of two (2) outstanding ATS warrants issued by East Orange Municipal Court and West Orange Municipal Court.  Ms. Hardy was issued two (2) summonses for her motor vehicle violations, processed, advised of all her pending court dates in East Orange, West Orange, and Randolph Twp. Municipal Courts, then released.

During the month of October, the Randolph Twp. Police Department responded to and investigated fifty-seven (57) motor vehicle accidents.
