Denville, NJ – The Morris County Vocational School District offers a high school Academy for Environmental Science. All interested 8th grade students in Morris County are encouraged to attend an Information Session and submit an application by Dec. 1.

The Academy for Environmental Science provides students with the interdisciplinary study of natural processes and human impacts in the atmosphere, aquatic systems, and soils. The academy program of study links the principles of art, history, language arts, technology, biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics to environmental concepts.

The program is located at Jefferson Township High School, which is surrounded by forest and parkland, providing the perfect backdrop for studying about the environment. Because of its unique placement experiential learning can occur right outside the door. Add to that the largest lake in NJ being part of the community and Mahlon Dickerson County Park and the resources continue to add up.

Jefferson is proud to partner with the Morris County Vocational School District to provide this academy. Together the districts have forged a path to provide a program that ‘inspires and prepares students to succeed in today’s world and pursue tomorrow’s opportunities’.

Upon high school graduation, students will have the foundation needed to pursue a degree in environmental studies in preparation for one of the growing numbers of environmental careers in resource management, business, non-profits, law, conservation, or education.

Learn more about this unique and challenging program at an Information Session on October 12th or November 16th at 6:30pm, Jefferson High School, 1010 Weldon Rd in Jefferson.
