MORRISTOWN, NJ - Morris County residents are invited to attend the 4th Annual International Overdose Awareness Day on August 28. The global event aims to raise awareness of drug overdoses and to spread the message that overdose deaths are preventable.

This year's event will take place on the Morristown Green on August 28 from 1pm - 3pm.

The keynote speaker will be Morristown Mayor Tim Dougherty. Additional speakers include Sheriff Gannon, speakers from local police department, Hope One, Navigativing Hope as well as Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp and Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Chief Assistant Prosecutor Seabury. Parents who have lost their children to an overdose will also speak to the public. Treatment providers will also be on site providing information.

The event is free and open to the public. 

"The program provides a great opportunity to learn more about theefforts being taken to save lives and combat addiction throughout Morris County", said the Morris County Prosecutor's Office.
