FLEMINGTON, NJ – What began with State Troopers responding to an emergency call on Monday has led to a murder charge, according to a press release from Hunterdon County Acting Prosecutor Michael Williams.
State Police based in Perryville were dispatched to Bethlehem Township on the report of an assault in progress, Williams said. After a brief struggle with the assailant, he said police arrested Justin A. Love, 19, of Randolph, and charged him with aggravated assault on his grandfather, Roger R. Love, 86 of Bethlehem, as well as aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.
While in transit to Hunterdon Medical Center, the victim died as a result of his injuries, leading to the murder charge against the grandson, according to the statement.
Williams said that there was no threat to the public at any time during the incident.
The press release was issued jointly by Williams, his Chief of Detectives Frank R. Crisologo and State Police Col. Patrick Callahan.
