Bangor, ME- On Friday, July 19, Randolph Baseball’s Senior League All Star team, (recently named State Champion from New Jersey), opened the Senior Little League Eastern Regional Tournament in Bangor, Maine with an impressive showing. The team defeated New York’s state champion, Half Hollow Hills Little League, from Dix Hills, by a score of 15-0 in 4 innings.
Facing their next opponent on Saturday July 20, Randolph played the Maryland state champion, the Caroline County Senior League Baseball All-Stars. It was a tight game in the first few innings, however, Randolph rallied from a deficit of 7-5 midway through the fourth to jump ahead to an 8-7 lead at the end of four complete.
In the fifth, Randolph tacked on one more, and in the sixth, they blew the game wide open by amassing eight runs to conclude the game one inning early. The scoreboard final was Randolph, NJ 17 – Caroline County, MD 7.
On what it is like to be participating in the tournament, one of the Randolph players stated, “It’s been a great honor representing Randolph and the state of New Jersey at this tournament. It’s been cool to meet players and fans from other states in the region.”
A second player added, “The camaraderie on and off the field is making for great memories.”
Randolph fell in their third game on Monday July 22, by the score of 12-8 to the Delaware state champion. With the tournament being a double elimination format, they will continue play from here unless they lose a second game.
