RANDOLPH, NJ- The Randolph based NJ Freeze AA - 16U travel hockey team has compiled a record of 33-0-1 in their 2018-19 season, and is now in Plano Texas for the National Championships. The team, led by six Randolph High School Varsity players, won the states and then the Districts back in the Fall season to earn their spot in the National tournament that runs from April 2 through April 9.
After the players all took a break for theri high school seasons, it was back to the ice to prep for the trip to Texas. The team played a tune up tournament St. Patrick’s Day weekend in which they went 5-0 and took first place.
JT Zangara, Michale Sofia, Gavin Einfeld, Justin Harper, James Mattson and Matthew Cislo all were part of the Randolph Varsity hockey team that compiled a record of 22-5-2 with a trip to the state finals this past winter season. They are joined on the Freeze team by players from surrounding towns and rival high school teams, including Delbarton, Madison, Morris Knolls, Livingston, Roxbury & Pope John varsity teams.
For some, this is their first trip to Nationals, while others on the team have already reached that level in seasons past and are making their second or third trips to the highest level tournament in the country.
