Summer time means Summer Reading Club! Even though this year has been unusual for everyone, there’s no reason not to look forward to summer reading fun. This year the Summer Reading Club’s theme is “Imagine Your Story.”  The Randolph Library will be registering children and teens for the Summer Reading Club beginning in June. There may be changes in the way the Library will run the program this summer, but the Library will announce everything in advance so everyone will be able to participate.

We all know it’s important for kids to read over the summer. We’ve heard that studies show that reading during the summer helps prevent the loss of literacy skills learned in the school year. One of the most important tips to get kids reading is to make it fun. The summer is a great time to step back and let kids read what they enjoy. Studies have shown that reading, even reading “below level” helps students gain fluency, mastery and confidence. This may be an opportunity to explore new interests, or read familiar authors over again. The most important part of summer reading is always fun!
