RED BANK, NJ: The Count Basie Center for the Arts has announced the opening of submissions for its ‘Arts Madness’ talent tournament.
The program was launched last year in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and was so successful that the Count Basie and sponsor Bank of America will make it an annual online event to showcase local talent.
A platform to showcase their skills, Arts Madness provides young New Jersey-based artists including musicians, local bands, dancers, actors, comedians, musical theatre performers and performing artists to submit a one-minute YouTube or Vimeo. Videos will be accepted via email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Artists must be between the ages of 13-25 and judges will review and score each video with the top 20 scoring submissions earning an entrance into the tournament.
The week of March 8 will begin the “Round of 32” on the Basie’s social media channels.
Submissions must be received by Sunday, March 7th at midnight EST.
“Voting rounds will be posted and the general public including fans and artists, will cheer on their favorites moving all the way down to a Final Four and championship round in April. In 2020, more than 30,000 votes were cast in the inaugural “Arts Madness” showcase,” said John Vena, Vice President, Marketing of the Count Basie Theater.
