RED BANK, NJ – "Red Bank is going to the dogs.  And that's a good thing!" said Mayor Pat Menna.

Marine Park was packed with pooches and pups for the second Red Bank's Dog Days last evening that included a “Luring Course.”  This was very cool for the dogs and for the spectators who watched.

What's Luring?  It's a route that’s laid out with a tight wire close to the ground.  A white baggie/rabbit is attached that zips around a large circular course which zig-zags and the dogs love the chase.  Some with great enthusiasm, and some, not so much.

The smart dogs recognized that they could "cut off" the rabbit and a couple even "caught" it to the applause of the audience.

Talk about diversity.  From pedigrees to mutts, in all colors, shapes and sizes, checking out each other with the ritual nose "howdy-do" sniff ritual, they were all well behaved.

The pop band The Wag played some excellent tunes which the crowd and canines enjoyed.

Dog-related product vendors circled the park where they gave away dog treats and toys.

The event was hosted by the Red Bank Animal Welfare Committee and the Red Bank Parks & Recreation Department.
