RED BANK, NJ: The physical library remains closed, but we are now offering curbside pick-up for items in our collection and for printed materials. Instructions are here.

Here are some of the details:

What can I check out?
The interlibrary loan unfortunately has yet to safely restart, so we can only offer materials that are stocked on our shelves. But as long as we have it, you can check out books, audiobooks, DVDs, and printed materials. You can place a hold on a material using our library cataloglibrary app, or by calling the library (732-842-0690) during our open hours (Monday through Friday from 10 to 6). We will then notify you when it's available and you can schedule an appointment to pick the materials up.

As per CDC and the Institute of Libraries and Museums recommendations, all returned materials are quarantined for 72 hours before returning to the shelves.

How does it work?
One of two ways. We will call when your materials are ready and will schedule a pick-up time. If you arrive in your car, we will put the items directly into your trunk. You do NOT have to have a car to use curbside pick-up. We would be happy to arrange to give you the materials on our front porch, where we have a table set up that we will place your materials on. You will be required to wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Do I need to return the books I had checked out before COVID?
The book drops are now open, so you can return any physical materials you had checked out. All due dates for physical materials have been extended to July 15th. Because we are quarantining all returned materials for three days, it may take some time for it to come off of your account. All fines have been suspended through December 31st, 2020.

My Library Card was set to expire during the shutdown.  What should I do?
All Library Card expiration dates have been pushed back to August 31st, 2020. If you do not currently have a card, but you live, work, go to school, or teach in Red Bank, you can apply for a Temporary Library Card at this link.

What computer services are available?
Because the physical library is closed, you cannot come in and use our computers at the moment. But free WiFi is available in the parking lots and at the picnic tables in the back. Three spots in the parking lot are marked as the optimal places to pick up the WiFi. We are using several signal extenders, so try and of the networks that say "RBPL" somewhere in the name.

Likewise, if you want to use our printer, you can email us what you need printed as an attachment to, and we will print up to ten pages for free. Protocol for picking up your printed pages is the same as it is for picking up library materials -- we can deliver it to your car or arrange for you to pick it up on our porch.
