Shore House adheres to the Clubhouse model of psychosocial rehabilitation. They are part of a group of over 300 Clubhouse worldwide, 200 in North America, 21 in Pennsylvania, and 11 in New York. Shore House is the first and only accredited Clubhouse in New Jersey.
This evidenced-based model, where those who attend are known as members work side by side with staff to operate the Clubhouse. This person-centered approach provides a platform for our members to contribute their talents and skills creating opportunities for building self-esteem and confidence.
This enables them rejoin the worlds of friendship, family, work and education. It is the mission of Shore House to restore hope, independence and self-worth for people living with a mental illness by providing access to social, education and employment opportunities.
"We are grateful to Mike and Val Aufiero, owners of the Front Street Trattoria, for hosting this fundraiser. 1 in 5 Americans live with a mental illness. In Monmouth County that equals about 126,000, which means chances are we all know someone who has this diagnosis. We know with the right support, people can and do recover. Shore House is the only resource in the entire state of NJ providing these crucial recovery supports to allow people to go from patienthood to personhood, said Executive Director, Susan Mazzeo
