RED BANK, NJ - The Navesink Business Group (NBG), held their bi- monthly 8:00am meeting last Wednesday at the Danny’s Steakhouse.

Rob Lowe, Executive Director of the NBG and Branch Manager of Family First Funding, opened the meeting by introducing this week’s highlighted business, Anywhere Vision, an optical concierge service.

Event Specialist Amy Grandinetti explained to the audience that it’s like an, “Eyeglass store that comes to you, and with an appointment, bringing 450 frames to your home or team at the office.”

Got that?  No fighting traffic and looking for a parking space.

Anywhere Vision offers you the unique ability to choose the time and place to shop for new glasses.

Founder and optician Gerry Miller described how after working in a big chain store, he launched the business three years ago.  “I realized that they didn’t want to spend time with the customers, find out what they needed, it was (essentially)  help yourself.  I’m the type where I want everybody taken care of, and not sell you something you don’t need.”

Miller explained that every type of prescription calls for a different type of frame. A prescription can be sent as a text, and you can send some photos of frames that you like.

He’ll research to see what’s available on the market saying, “There’s so many new products out there, a lot of companies just offer what they want to carry, what they make the best profit on, and we can discuss pricing points on the phone.”

Miller suggested that you can also send him a picture of yourself and he’ll bring several trays (of frames), that will fit your prescription.

Being an optician is a specialized field.  Miller is a technical practitioner who designs, fits and dispenses corrective lenses for the correction of a person's vision.

You don’t get this when you order frames online.  And this is important.  “You can be in a progressive lens in a narrow frame and not getting the full benefit of that prescription and not have your PD’s (Pupillary Distance), line up, and you would never know,” said Grandinetti.

Pupillary Distance (PD), or pupillary distance, refers to the distance in millimeters between the center of one pupil to the center of the other.  Having a correct PD on your glasses’ prescription ensures that you are looking through the ideal spot in your lenses.

Accolades were offered by several NBG members including attorney Anna Maria Petillio who said, “I had a wonderful experience and my glasses are awesome.  I whole hardily endorse using Vision Anywhere for your glasses!”
