Rob Lowe, Executive Director of the NBG, opened the meeting by introducing this week’s highlighted business, Holmdel-based Loving Cup Mobile Grooming owned by Danielle Caracci
Caracci started out as an executive chef, then began a fourteen-year career working with a family in Massachusetts as their chef and executive assistant. One of her duties was taking care of their four dogs.
An unruly family dog brought in a canine behavioralist. “I worked with the behavioralist for about a year and learned how to train dogs, work with them, keeping them calm and about their body language,” said Caracci.
One day a dog groomer came to the house and, not paying attention, seriously cut one of the dogs. That groomer was fired and Caracci became very in tuned with the dogs, noting any symptoms or indications that needed attending to.
At that point, she realized she wanted to become a dog groomer. Returning to New Jersey, she attended the New Jersey Dog Grooming Academy, which is state accredited with a licensed training program. It teaches the most modern, thorough methods and techniques.
The Academy is the Ivy League of dog grooming schools. “Most grooming schools are only about a month and a half long,” said Caracci. She trained for 420 hours receiving her Diploma in “All Breed Dog Grooming and Shop Management.” She is also certified in Pet First Aid and CPR.
There’s a lot of psychology in grooming. When being groomed, some dogs can get very stressed out and aggressive. “I take my time because I think it’s important. Dogs get scared. They don’t like their feet touched, their ears touched or tails touched. I talk to them a lot, and if they’ve never been groomed before, I’ll hold the (electric) clipper against their body so they feel the vibration, just to get them use to it.”
The holidays are here and everything is getting spruced up to look their best.
Don’t forget about the other member(s) of your family – your dogs.
Danielle Caracci is not only the best-of-the best dog groomer, but she can be a “dog whisperer;” calming and soothing fearful dogs that makes the grooming experience all the more satisfying.
And best of all? She comes to your house!
So, give Danielle a call at 732 – 693 – 0491 to make an in-house appointment, and get your pup looking their best for the holidays!
