RED BANK, NJ – The Red Bank Planning Board approved a site plan for a third taco restaurant, Taylor Taco Shop to be located at 1 Broad Street.

The site (corner of E. Front and Broad Streets), was formerly Heritage Liquors at street level and offices on the second floor.

Red Bank is presently home to Surf Tacos, the soon to be open Tacoholics and several Mexican-themed restaurants on the west side.

Multiple variances were granted including for both lack of parking and a loading dock.  The Board recognized that these were pre-existing conditions.

They questioned the timing of trash pickups and deliveries and were satisfied with the plan their applicant's attorney, Rick Brodsky of the firm Ansell, Grimm & Aaron provided.  “The trash will be stored in the building and the basement if necessary and will be picked up 4 – 5 times per week by a private carter.”  Delivers are expected to be twice a week and the trucks will park on East Front Street as they have in the past.”

The Taylor Taco Shop will have 22 seats on the ground floor and about 40 upstairs which will also be used for private events.  Slider type windows will be installed as well as a large garage-like roll down door to give it an open feeling.

Brodsky also mentioned that they will be making an application for outside seating.

The restaurant will offer tacos, burritos and build-your-own bowls with customized toppings.

Glenn Carter, Director of Planning and Zoning said, “I want to thank the (restaurant) owner for working with the Historic Preservation Commission and for doing such a nice job.”

"We expect Red Bank to be a vital part of our success and future growth and think it’s going to be a good blend of what we do in the local community,” said Matt Martin, owner and operator of Taylor Taco Shop.

Martin could only say that the opening date is “TBD.”

With the location and river views, this restaurant should be a hit.
