RED BANK, NJ: An eyesore for many years, the Boulder Petroleum Company of Brick, NJ began yesterday removing and hauling away the top layer of concrete covering two large gasoline storage tanks at the crossroads of Riverside Avenue (Rt. 35) and Bridge Avenue.

The service station has been closed for a number of years and is situated at the foot of the southeast corner of the Coopers Bridge, that connects Red Bank with Middletown.

Jim, a supervisor of the project who did not wish to provide his last name, said, “We’re removing the two underground gas tanks, but not the original building.  I don’t know what they plan to do with that structure.”
