RED BANK, NJ – The Red Bank Charter School had their school kids walk around their building to Monmouth Street to sign a steel beam that will be used for their new gymnasium.
The kids really had a blast, putting their signatures on the 2+ ton support beam with sharpie pens.
“It’s very exciting to see real steel going up in the new gym,” said Chuck Miller, maintenance man for the Charter School.
The beams will be lifted and secured horizontally across the ceiling replacing several load supporting vertical beams to provide an open space for the gym. Completion is expected by next spring.
Meredith Pennotti, Principal Lead for the Red Bank Charter School said, “Today is a historic day as our students are signing one of the beams that will soon be part of the roof of their new gym facilities. We waited twenty year for this to happen and it’s an exciting accomplishment, thanks to the huge support of everybody in this school community and many people in the town of Red Bank.”
