RED BANK, NJ: Two Red Bank residents have announced their candidacy to challenge Democratic council members Kate Triggiano and Hazim Yassin according to Red Bank Democratic Party Chairman Ed Zipprich.
Bruce Maida and Dr. LeRoi Jones filed letters of intent with the Democratic Municipal Committee.
Incumbent Council members Triggiano and Yassin did not file their letters of intent to run by the required deadline which was yesterday.
“Our Democratic Party process is long-standing and very simple,” Zipprich said. “Party members were advised, via multiple email notifications and social media posts, of the nominating requirements. Interested candidates must submit letters of intent to the municipal Chair and/or Vice-Chair Lauren Nicosia by the deadline, which this year was February 15, 2021 at 5:00pm,” said Zipprich in a Press Release issued late last night.
Due to the pandemic, the formal Democratic nominating convention will be held virtually on Tuesday, March 2 at 5 pm. The winning candidates will receive the endorsement of the Monmouth County Democratic Organization.
