Fun Foodie Facts about Brookdale Culinary Arts Grads:  Alumna Emily Chapman won the TV competition “Chopped” and alumnus Drew Araneo three times won the James Beard “Top Chef” award and is the owner of the restaurant Drew’s Bayshore Bistro in Keyport NJ.

Even during the pandemic, we've seen the demand for outdoor dining, indoor dining, curbside service and delivery...  There will always be employment for those who know how to master culinary arts. Brookdale Community College ranked #9 of the top 25 colleges offering the best culinary arts programs in 2020 by GradReports. This was based on over 100,000 college degree programs and the starting salary data of over 5 million graduates!

First place was awarded to the graduates of the culinary arts' associate degree program at University of Hawaii Maui College earned a median of $37,600 in their first year after college. In third place, The Art Institutes graduates earned $32,700 and have a median debt of $22,625. Coming in fifth, Culinary Institute of America had a median salary of $31,200 and a median debt of $12,000. Brookdale’s median salary is $28,100 with a median debt of $8,663. Tuition, median salaries, and median debt were reported by the U.S. Department of Education.

The Culinary Education Center of Monmouth County is a unique collaboration between Brookdale Community College and the Monmouth County Vocational School District (MCVSD). The mission of the program is to provide a quality culinary education with transferrable skills that are marketable in an ever-changing industry.  Employment opportunities exist in food preparation and supervisory/chef positions in restaurants, food catering services, and institutional food services in schools, colleges, hospitals, nursing homes, and business establishment facilities.

Culinary courses run in three-week blocks each semester. By attending classes Mondays through Thursdays, you can pursue job opportunities in the field on weekends.

The Culinary Education Center, with full large training kitchens, storerooms, classrooms, and bakery, is located at 101 Dury Lane in Asbury Park, NJ.
