RED BANK, NJ – Ted Friedli, owner of Excel Travel held a successful fundraiser for the not-for-profit organization, Kick Cancer Overboard

In collaboration with Brookdale's Rockit Academy, they surprised 5 local families affected by Cancer with free cruises to Bermuda, on Norwegian Cruise Line's brand-new Encore ship.

Ted Friedli, the founder of Kick Cancer Overboard and said, “One hundred percent of donations received go directly to covering the cost of the cruises.  Some families that have benefited from a free cruise in the past now volunteer with the group, or sponsor other families.”

Ashley Gallo, owner of Style in Action Hair Studio in Manchester and future sponsor of a free cruise, said of the event, “I just want to say thank you. This was truly one of the most touching moments of my life. You and your entire team were exceptionally kind and welcoming.  We cried, we laughed, we danced, we sang, the food was awesome and the band AMAZING. We even won some prices.  What an incredible way to end the year on a high note, and make a difference for these families that so deserve a break.  Can't wait for next year!”

This was Kick Cancer Overboard’s sixth year hosting the event which took place at the Palazzo at the St. George Greek Orthodox Church and drew a very supportive and generous crowd of well over 300 people.

“It’s such an honor to be working together with Bruce Gallipani and Brookdale’s Rockit Academy.  These 8-18 year old kids are the true superstars of tomorrow, playing everything from Frankie Valli to Pink Floyd, from Led Zeppelin to Etta James.  To see these kids committed to raising money for others that are less fortunate is truly very inspiring.  As a result of this fundraiser we were able to surprise five local families affected by cancer.  It was a win-win for all involved - really a FUNraiser and a great way to end the year on a high note,” said Friedli.

Truly an inspiring organization not only for the families, but the people involved.
