RED BANK, NJ: Friday, May 29th at 8am The head coach of Red Bank Regional High School’s Cross-Country and Track and Field teams, Brendan McGoldrick set out on a journey to pay it forward to those effected by Covid 19. He took on former Navy Seal and ultra endurance athlete David Goggins 4x4x48 Challenge. Brendan would run 4 miles, every 4 hours, for 48 hours all in the name of Covid-19 relief. Coach McGoldrick asked supporters to donate to The Source Foundation’s Covid-19 relief fund. His goal was to raise $200.
“We are so proud of Brendan and grateful that he came to us with this idea for raising money and for completing the challenge” said Suzanne Keller, Supervisor of The Source. The Source Foundation is one part of The Source a School Based Youth Services Program at Red Bank Regional High School. The Source has been working with several community partners to identify and assist those who need it most, ensuring no duplication of services or funds. Keller said, “We have been supplying rental assistance and funding for other Covid-19 related emerging needs such as funeral expenses to families in Red Bank.”
After 48 hours of running, Coach McGoldrick finished his challenge Monday, June 1st in Thompson Park with his best time of 36 minutes 28 seconds. Several colleagues and students moved around the trail to cheer from safe distances. “There was so much love and support in the air it was impossible to not feel great finishing up” McGoldrick said.
The goal of $200 was easily surpassed in a matter of hours as word spread via social media and news channels. To date, donations have reached over $9,500. “We can assist over 15 families with these funds. As we head into the summer months, we want to continue to help families stay in their homes, feel safe and secure. The Source will provide rental assistance and meet the emerging needs of our community as long as it is able,” said Suzanne Keller.
Contributions to The Source Foundation’s COVID-19 Relief Fund has helped over 27 families with rental assistance for the months of April and May. To learn more about The Source at Red Bank Regional High School and or to make a donation visit: www.thesourcerbrhs.org
