RED BANK, NJ: On August 21, 2019, the Governing Body of the Borough of Red Bank adopted Ordinance 2019-41 concerning single-use plastics and polystyrene foam in an effort to protect the environmental and the public health, welfare, and safety, especially given our position as a riverside community.

The ordinance prohibits business, food or grocery establishments from providing single-use plastic bags to customers, food service ware that contains polystyrene/plastic foam, or plastic straws (by request only).

Enforcement does not start until September 1, 2020 so that businesses have a reasonable opportunity to make the necessary changes to their inventory and operations, as well as to educate consumers.
