RED BANK, NJ: A protest/rally and celebration of life for George Floyd will take place this Tuesday, June 9, from 3-7pm.

George Floyd was the African American man who died after a white Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck for nearly nine minutes, on May 25.

The protest will gather at the top of Marine Park and march from Broad St. to the Count Basie Park.

“We have met with the organizers and are assisting them with coordinating the march and protest,” said Red Bank Police Chief Darren McConnell in a written statement.

The organizers have asked that people come together for a peaceful protest, to wear a mask, and practice social distancing.  They’ve also requested that participants bring a donation of canned goods for Lunch Break.
