RED BANK, NJ: The Red Bank Police responded to a truck hitting the NJ Transit Train Trestle overpass coming under the Senator Kyrillos Bridge at about 10:00am this morning.
The overpass on W. Front Street leads out of Red Bank into the River Plaza/Middletown area.
The roof peeled off the truck like it went through a can opener leaving it on the east side of the bridge with the truck stopping on the west side.
Traffic was diverted to Hubbard Avenue at the Middletown side of the bridge.
An unidentified Red Bank Police officer said that the driver told him, “I don’t know what happened, I’ve driven under this bridge a couple of times.”
The officer asked (jokingly), if he had overinflated his tires.
