RED BANK, NJ: Thirty-year-old Stephen Grosso of Fair Haven was charged with the knocking down of a statue at the St. James Church on Broad Street.
“We took the report of the damaged statue on June 15th and obtained video surveillance from the area. With the assistance of the Rumson PD, our detectives were able to positively identify the individual, said Red Bank Chief of Police Darren McConnell.
Grosso can be seen in this VIDEO skateboarding behind the church, stopping, toppling the statue and calmly riding back out. Damage was estimated to be $6,000.
“He was subsequently charged with 3rd degree Criminal Mischief based on the $6000 value of the statue. It was a great example of information sharing and cooperation among the local agencies that led to the closure of this case,” added McConnell.
