RED BANK, NJ: The Zoning Board held their online meeting last night to discuss the application to construct a second story addition and a covered porch on a property located at 38 Sunset Avenue.
There was a discrepancy between what the Board and the applicant Nabil Bader, determined about the front porch being enclosed or opened at the previous hearing.
The plan presented would have created an enclosed porch leading directly into the living room from the front door.
“Are you trying to make the house bigger? Is the closing in the porch a necessity?” asked Board member Richard Angowski. “Without that porch it will be very tiny,” said Bader.
Chair Lauren Nicosia said, “I drive by this house all the time. The house is a mess, it’s been boarded up and looks terrible. I would love to see this house rebuilt and see a family move into it.”
After a back-and-forth discussion with the Board, the applicant agreed to resubmit plans keeping the existing open porch on the front and expanding the footprint of the house by building out towards the rear of the property.
The Board voted to carry the application to the next meeting scheduled for May 6 and review the applicant’s new plan.
