RED BANK, NJ – A nice big fluke was caught by Tom Colleran of Fair Haven and Steve Milewski of Middletown last Friday on their boat, the Cara Lynn.
The doormat was about 31 inches long and weighed 10 ½ pounds on the scales of Juliens Bait and Tackle.
Milewski said they, “Used a Spro jig with a gulp teaser to capture the monster in the Ambrose channel. Tom fought the fish for about 10 minutes, and first thought he was foul-hooked on a big skate. The fish barely fit in the net.”
Some cole slaw, ears of corn, couple of beers and that’s a lot of good eating!
“Bottom fishing has been pretty good, larger fluke are starting to show up in better numbers in the deeper water on hard bottom. We had 4 keeper fluke and threw back about 20 shorts. Black Sea Bass are biting around the rocks, too bad the limit is only 2 per person,” added Milewski.
