RED BANK, NJ: Red Bank Regional High School Senior Red Bank Regional’s Senior Middle Linebacker Will Dal Pra was named the 2020 winner of the Jay Patrick Unsung Hero Award the by the Monmouth County Rotarians.
Named after a long time Rotarian and a one of the founders of Vince Lombardi awards, the Jay Patrick Unsung Hero is awarded to a Monmouth County high school football player who best exemplifies the traditions, beliefs and ideals of the legendary coach Vince Lombardi.
The actual presentation will take place at a later date due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Red Bank Regional’s head coach, Dave Schuman nominated Dal Pra and said, “I have been coaching for 17 years, and it is the first time that I had a tough, gritty, smart leader of the team, who was also the ultimate team player. Will was also one that truly takes the time to make sure every single member feels a part of the team. He cares for every one of his teammates and was willing to help the team in any way he could.”
Leading the BUCS with 88 tackles made Del Pra one of the Shore Conference’s top tacklers, where the BUCS went 7-4 this past fall. Named to the 1st Team All-Liberty Division and 2nd Team All-2 River Area, Del Pra and teammate Owen Laughlin were named Co-Defensive Players of the year for the BUCS.
Holding a 3.9 GPA, Dal Pra will attend Florida State University in the fall and major in Business.
