ELIZABETH, NJ - Fifty full-time and part-time positions at Newark-Liberty International Airport are available, and an informational session will be held next week for people interested in the jobs.
The ground services company AirServ will be at the county’s Workforce Innovation Business (WIB) Center in the Mills at Jersey Gardens mall on Aug. 10 at 10 a.m. to share information about the positions. The jobs start at $10.20 per hour, according to a release from the Board of Chosen Freeholders.
Freeholders Vice Chairman Sergio Granados in a statement called the program a "win-win" for companies and residents. Granados also serves as liaison to the county Workforce Development Board.
“Employers in Union County know they can come to the WIB Center for experienced, professional assistance that helps streamline the hiring process and ensure a pool of qualified recruits,” Granados in a statement. “This public-private partnership is a win-win for companies, for our residents, and for the whole Union County community.”
Available positions include baggage handler, cabin cleaning, lavatory service agent, lobby agent, wheelchair agent and air terminal attendant.
Attendance at the session is mandatory for job seekers to be eligible to apply for a position. Pre-registration online is also required.
Attendees should to bring copies of their resumes, provide necessary information including date of birth and county of residence, be able to work weekends and holidays and have reliable transportation to work. Attendees should also be able to agree to a background and drug screening test per employer requirements and having an I.D. and Social Security card.
Previous WIB Center hiring rounds have matched job seekers in the county with employers including Whole Foods, Farmland Fresh Dairies, Blue Apron, FedEx, PGK Clubhouse, OTG Management and more.
“The WIB Center has worked with private sector employers to provide over 2,000 local job opportunities to Union County residents,” said Freeholder Chairman Bruce Bergen in a statement. “This latest round of hiring offers another opportunity for our residents to work with a highly regarded company in our area.”
The WIB Center was created by the Freeholder Board with Union County College through a $2.4 million investment in 2014.
