ROSELLE, NJ - Abraham Clark High School football player Jared McRae has been nominated for the 2020 USA Football Heart of a Giant Award presented by Hospital for Special Surgery and the New York Giants.
McRae began playing football at five-years-old after being separated from his mother. He used it as a way to relieve stress and stay out of trouble. He has been a captain for the high school football team for two years.
“Part of that made me into the player I am today - I’m forever grateful for the adversity I’ve been through,” said McRae.
Now McRae’s mother visits him every chance she gets and he has become a star pupil and member of the National Honor Society.
Each of the eleven finalists wins $1,000 dollars for their high school football program. All eleven finalists will submit a video explaining why they have the Heart of a Giant. From the videos, the grand prize winner will selected. The grand prize winner will receive an additional $4,000 for his school’s program and a trophy.
You can vote for Jared McRae on the USA Football website until midnight on September 27.
