NEW JERSEY -- Niagara® Bottling, a company that supplies bottled water to stores across New Jersey, has issued a recall because the operator at one of its contracted springs failed to notify it about evidence of E. coli bacteria in the water. The water was bottled at plants in Hamburg and Allentown, PA. from June 10 until June 18.

The list of contaminated brands includes:

  • Acadia
  • Acme
  • Big Y
  • Best Yet
  • 7-Eleven
  • Niagara
  • Nature’s Place
  • Pricerite
  • Superchill
  • Morning Fresh
  • Shaws
  • ShopRite
  • Western Beef Blue
  • Wegmans (partial recall of this brand)

Stores that sell the recalled products include including Wegmans, ShopRite and 7-Eleven, among others.

There have been no reports of any illness to date. Niagara states that "finished product testing detected no contaminants or issues of any kind. This voluntary withdrawal is being implemented in cooperation with State and Federal Agencies."

“As the spring source did not notify us in a timely manner, we have discontinued the use of this source,’’ Niagara Bottling reported.
