SPRINGFIELD, NJ - The Jonathan Dayton Softball team opened the season on a very chilly and cloudy Saturday morning with a 2-1 loss to Roselle Park.
Coach Pamela de la Flave said, "It is always a good game when we play Roselle Park, but we didn't play to our potential.
The game was originally scheduled to be played at Roselle Park, but because of the heavy rains preceding the game, the decision was made to play the game on Dayton's turf field. The field still had puddles around it and the temperature at the start of the game was around 40 degrees. That seemed to chill the bats of the teams as each mustered just four hits.
The Bulldogs scored their lone run in the second inning giving them a lead they would hold until the fifth inning, while Roselle Park scored in the fifth and sixth inning.
