ROSELLE, NJ – Donations are needed for the New Beginnings School Book Bag Drive. You can help local children start the new school year prepared to learn by donating some essential school supplies.

The drive, sponsored by Mayor Christine Dansereau, the Walter Wimbush Scholarship Program and other local groups, hopes to fill 500 book bags for students.

Individuals, businesses, and community groups are asked to donate: Book bags, small water bottles, eight-count boxes of crayons, 12-count boxes of No. 2 pencils, marble composition books, packs of washable markers and pencil cases. Supplies should be dropped off at Borough Hall or the Police Department, both at 210 Chestnut Street.

Financial contributions for supplies may be made, by check only, to the Borough of Roselle with “New Beginnings Book Bag Drive” in the memo line.

Drop-off times are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., from Monday–Thursday or 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Fridays. Donations will be accepted until Aug 31.

The book bag giveaway will be held from 1–3 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 1, in the Roselle Council Chambers. Book bags are for borough children only, proof of residency will be required. For more information, contact Borough Hall (908) 245-5600.
