Driver of SUV Rollover Accident Charged with DUI and Endangering the Welfare of a Child

ROSELLE PARK, NJ - Police have released the results of their investigation of the March 10, accident at E. Grant Ave. at Walnut St. and charged the driver with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and other summonses. 

According to police, at approximately 10:25 a.m. witnesses at the scene reported possible injuries and entrapment. Upon arrival, Roselle Park officers discovered a blue 2012 Toyota Rav4 in the middle of the roadway with heavy front end damage that had flipped onto its roof. Witnesses stated that the vehicle was traveling westbound on E. Grant Ave. when it veered to the right of the roadway striking a legally parked 2012 Chevy causing the Toyota to flip over before coming to rest on its roof. 

Police said, the driver of the vehicle, Jessica L. Burgos, age 35 from Roselle Park was still in the driver seat and had to be extricated from the vehicle by Union County E.M.S., Roselle Park Fire Department, and Police.

Two passengers a 7-year-old, and 9-year-old were helped from the vehicle by a witness and were reported to be uninjured. 

Police said, Burgos was arrested and later charged with driving while intoxicated with two minors in the vehicle (disorderly persons offense) and endangering the welfare of a child (4th degree). Burgos was also issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while intoxicated, open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and careless driving. 

Burgos was transported to University Hospital where she was treated for minor injuries and later released.
