ELIZABETH, NJ – It may have taken more than $1, but the dream came true for Juvenal Romero when he won $300,000 by matching all five, winning numbers in the Pick 5, with a ticket he bought at Take Care Pharmacy on Elmora Avenue.
“I couldn’t believe it!” the Elizabeth resident said of his win. “I had to check the ticket twice.”
Consistency seems to have paid off for Romero. He buys all his tickets at the pharmacy and always plays the same numbers. “It’s my mother’s birthday and my niece’s, Zoe Aguiar’s, birthday.”
Romero already knows what he wants to do with the money. He is planning to buy a house in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Just as excited was the pharmacy’s owner, Dr. Sabina Sebastian, whose store will receive about $2,000 for selling the winning ticket. “I was so happy when we heard that someone won. It’s the first time it has happened. I always wanted someone to win. All the time I pray. I wish more people could win here.”
One of her regular customers who wishes he could win is Roselle resident Ray Olsen, who also buys his lottery tickets here. “I wish it was me, but I wish that person luck. He should enjoy it.”
What does he think of his chances of winning? “Possibly, probably … hopefully.”
Take Care Pharmacy is located at 182A Elmora Avenue in the mall off the corner of West Grand Street. Soon, passersby won’t be able to miss it. There will be a big sign out front.
