FLORHAM PARK, N.J - Nearly 600 girls who are participating in Girls on the Run and Heart & Sole programs this fall at schools and parks across Essex, Morris, and Union Counties will run in the Florham Park PBA Turkey Trot 5K on Saturday, November 18. The 5K run starts at 10AM and will take place at the Holy Family Church, 1 Lloyd Avenue, Florham Park.

During the 10-week fall season, volunteer coaches have led the girls in 3rd-8th grade through the program’s youth development curriculum and have helped them to train to run a 5K. The curriculum uses physical activity to encourage girls to recognize their unique gifts, develop positive friendships, strengthen teamwork skills, manage their time, make healthy choices, and serve others.

Training for the 5K challenges the girls to set a goal and complete the hard work required to meet it, providing a framework for setting and achieving other life goals. This process empowers girls to dream and reach their limitless potential.
