ROSELLE, NJ - Many came out in support this weekend for the Graceful Hope Organization, which held its first annual walk in Warinanco Park to bring awareness to Ovarian Cancer.
Union County Freeholder Sergio Granados, Assemblywoman Annette Quijano, Roselle Mayor Jamel Holley, Borough Council and Park and Recreation were supportive in helping to make this event a success.
Graceful Hope was founded in 2009, shortly after the passing of Grace Rocha on Dec. 12, 2008 and also in support of her daughter, Erika, who was diagnosed in early 2007 at the age of sixteen.
Graceful Hope initially began as a team of family and friends participating in the Annual EIF Revlon Run/Walk for Women in NYC, walking in solidarity and raising funds to support women battling ovarian cancer.
With Erika’s passing on January 8, 2011 at the age of 20, they were devastated. Faced with two options, they could just mourn the loss of Grace and Erika, or they could do something about it. They chose to take action.
