UNION COUNTY, NJ - A late day thunderstorm warning was issued by the National Weather Service on Sunday evening around 5:27 p.m. The warning stated that strong thunder storms were located in the area of Colonia and near N. Plainfield moving east at 45 mph.
At approximately 5:40p.m. Roselle experienced a hail storm dropping plenty of white pellets before changing over to rain.
According to the Breaking News Network (BNN), The City of Elizabeth experienced flood issues with this storm causing a car to be stuck in the water on Elmora Ave. and multiple other occupied vehicles were also stuck in flood waters. Elizabeth police had to request tow trucks to help pull the vehicles to safety.
The weather service also advised that many Union County towns would be affected and to expect winds in excess of 30 mph and torrential rain fall.
